Dear Friends,
What an incredible year it has been for Prince of Peace! As we reflect on all that we have experienced and accomplished together, I am reminded of the power of stories—stories that shape us, connect us, and inspire us to live out our faith in meaningful ways. That is why our theme for this year, Story Matters, has felt so timely and transformative.
In the compilation of this Annual Report, you will find the stories of our congregation: stories of faith in action, of hope shared, of lives touched by the love of God. These are not just reports of numbers or activities; they are glimpses of how our ministry teams are living into our mission to build the church and love the world.

We are claimed, gathered, and sent to build the Church and love the World.
VISION
Our vision is for a vibrant community that seeks a transformational relationship with God, our neighbors, and one another, while responding authentically, creatively, and justly to the most compelling needs of our community.

God, Country, and Forgiveness
I’ve been giving some thought lately to what happens after this coming election on Nov. 5. I am so eager for the narrative of a divided country to change but I’m anxious that we have become too conditioned to consider any alternative. Especially concerning is the talk of retribution for perceived wrong doings and the growing calls for turning the guardrails of democracy into “weapons.”
God and the Unpredictable
This Sunday our story leaps forward from Sarah & Abraham, right past their son Isaac, landing just after Isaac’s son Jacob’s life, almost near the end of Jacob’s son Joseph’s amazing life. Phew! Joseph’s story is marked by unpredictable challenges—betrayal by his brothers, enslavement, imprisonment—and yet, through it all, God was at work.

This wisdom speaks to the heart of faith—trusting God even when the outcome remains unclear. Sarah & Abraham’s story, which we encountered in worship yesterday, reminds us that faith is not about having all the answers or seeing immediate results. Instead, it’s about staying committed to God’s vision, even when the path ahead is murky.
We’re Not Alone on this Journey
Whether we feel like we are in a season of uncertainty, like Sarah & Abraham, or standing on the threshold of new possibilities, God’s word comes to each of us with a personal invitation.

The Congregation Council gathered for its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 10. Included in these highlights are an update from Pastor Peter, A/V additions, and an update on the solar power generation project, among items from the agenda.

According to family systems theory, family of origin dynamics is universal across the human species and nature. They also replicate automatically in future generations and appear in all human relationships and organizations. Accessing at least three generations of wisdom in your family through self-differentiation and curiosity can provide perspective, calm anxiety, and direct one’s life. Wendy believes such self-work is a vital component of spirituality.

Living Within God’s Limits
The story of creation in Genesis offers some direct wisdom for how we might respond to the climate crisis today. God sets clear boundaries in the garden—limits that nurture life and sustain balance. When humanity ignores these limits, we see the first fracture in creation’s harmony. This ancient narrative reveals a timeless truth: God’s world thrives when humans respect the boundaries woven into creation.
Back to the Beginning
As we begin a new school and program year, we’ll also enter our new series, Story Matters. And on Sunday, we’ll go back to the beginning, with God’s creation of humanity in the garden. And, even in paradise, there are boundaries meant to sustain life in harmony.
