Pastoral Call Update
On behalf of Prince of Peace’s Call Committee, Transition Team, and Council we are excited to present Pastor Amy Mihelich Smith as Prince of Peace’s new Pastor as voted on this past Sunday 08/02/2026 at the Congregation Special Meeting.
Pastor Amy is passionate about ministry that helps all people experience a sense of belonging through building community, bringing people together across differences, and reminding them of their belovedness.
Previously, Pastor Amy served as Teaching Pastor at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministry at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, in the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program in Rwanda, and in outdoor ministry at Luther Crest Bible Camp in Alexandria.
Pastor Amy majored in English and Political Science, with a concentration in Women’s & Gender Studies at St. Olaf College and earned her MDiv at Luther Seminary with a concentration in Justice and Reconciliation. She also completed United Theological Seminary’s Leadership for Social Justice program, and she is currently wrapping up a Yoga Teacher Training certification. She has participated in several Lily Grant Leadership Cohorts through the St. Paul Area Synod, and currently serves on the Synod’s Discipline Committee, Bega Kwa Bega Equity Committee, and Iringa Committee. Before attending seminary, she worked as a reporter and editor for the Apple Valley Sun ThisWeek newspaper.
Pastor Amy enjoys reading, running, doing yoga, hiking, snowboarding, and biking. She and her husband, Bryan, live in St. Paul with their dog, Pepper, and coming in October, their new baby girl!
Pastor Amy is excited about the incredible ministry happening at Prince of Peace and the opportunity to be a part of what the Holy Spirit is doing in this church and community.
If you have questions through the transition process, please feel free to reach out to Council any time. We look forward to welcoming Pastor Amy into our congregation as we continue to build our future together!
