‘God’s work. Our hands.’ Sunday

by Alyssa Herrig | Aug 5, 2026 | Church News, Faith Formation, Generosity, Going Deeper, Missions, Participation, Service, Women's Ministry, Youth

Sunday, September 13

This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America — one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life — flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

  • Project #1: Hospice Kits (Global Health Ministries)
    • Global Health Ministries continues the holistic ministry of Jesus Christ by partnering with Lutheran and other Christian efforts globally to enhance and to sustain the health and well-being of the communities served.
    • Supplies needed by Thursday, September 10. Please bring donations to the narthex or send to Prince of Peace.
      • regular-size bath towel (approx. 52” long) (new or gently used)
      • washcloth, new or gently used (not microfiber)
      • bath-size bar unscented soap (Such as Dove Unscented for Sensitive Skin, in original packaging)
      • toothbrush (In original, individual packaging)
      • pick-style comb
      • nail clipper (Larger size preferred)
      • Band-Aids, rubber-banded together
      • jar or tube of pure petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline (Approx. 4 ounces, lid taped)
      • pair heavy-duty household gloves (Kitchen type, size medium)
    • Project Location: PoP Gym
  • Project #2: Christmas Eve Candles (Prince of Peace & Settled)
    • The beeswax candles will be dipped and use for PoP’s Christmas Eve worships
    • Project Location: Meeting Room
  • Project #3: TBA
