What a joy to be back in Tanzania!  Our flights were long but uneventful.   We were met at the airport by driver Joe and assistant Godluck who transported us to Wistas Inn.  For those who have made this journey before, the new airport terminal is wonderful!  Also, Wistas has built a new lobby and carport, and the restaurant is now upstairs above the car port.  After a delicious breakfast with all our Tanzanian favorites we went for a light tour of Dar es Salaam.

Joe took us over the new Tanzanite Bridge which was gorgeous!  The sides look like fishing dhaous and the top arch has a gem to represent Tanzanite.

We visited the Lutheran Azania Front Cathedral which was built in the late 1800s.  We got a tour of the sanctuary, saw the new organ built in 2017, and then overcame a fear of heights to climb the belltower to see the bell, clockwork and a great view!  (The stairway up also stored the old organ.  We could see why they needed a new one!)

We had lunch at the Coral Beach Hotel, which has a lovely restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean.

Tomorrow we fly to Iringa to prepare for our visit to Bomalang’ombe on Friday!
