Yesterday, the Reverend Amanda Simons joined us for worship and brought an inspiring message of hope for our world. Rev. Simons serves as the Director of Church Partnerships and Volunteerism for Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. Aside from telling the important story of how our partnership with LSS helps to transform the lives of countless Minnesotans, she also shared a video featuring LSS President Patrick Thueson.
During our Easter Sunday celebrations yesterday, I had the joy of sharing some really exciting news on behalf of our partners in ministry with Lutheran Social Services of Minnesota and the St. Paul Area Synod. Each year, LSS of MN recognizes one congregation in each of the six Minnesota synods for its leadership in social ministry and social justice in their community. To honor each congregation’s work, they are presented the “Servant of Christ Award” at the synod’s annual assembly. This year, they have announced that Prince of Peace has been selected to receive this award.
It all started with a cardboard box, some paint, and the smiles from some beautiful kids serving lemonade. God’s people responding to God’s vision to care for our neighbors in need.
