In Iringa Tanzania, the new school year has started! The Bega kwa Bega team has visited the 6 schools run by the Iringa Diocese to make scholarship payments, verify sponsored students, and get photos to share with partner congregations!
Thanks to the generosity of Prince of Peace members at our last Tanzanian dinner, we were able to designate $7200 in scholarships for Bomalang’ombe (same as last year) and $2000 in scholarships for Vikongwa (a $400 increase from last year). We were also able to provide $1000 to the scholarship equity fund, which provides scholarships to students in parishes that do not have partners, and $800 to the post secondary scholarship fund that gives scholarships to students in the Iringa Diocese who are pursing university level education.

For our secondary school scholarships, most of our sponsored students attend ether Bomalang’ombe or Lutangilo Secondary Schools, and several students are waiting to hear their placement for Form V.
From Bomalang’ombe:
- 2 students are in Form I
- 4 students are in Form II
- 4 students are in Form III
- 8 students are in Form IV
- 2 students are waiting to hear if they qualify for Form V
- The congregation has also set aside funding for Theological Educational Extension (TEE) which provides training for evangelists and lay leaders. The TEE program is a big reason the church in Tanzania is growing!
From Vikongwa:
- 1 student is in Form I
- 2 students are in Form II
- 1 student is in Form III
- 2 students are waiting to hear if they qualify for Form V.
Please keep these students in your prayers!
