This is a continuation in a series of stories from Prince of Peace members, telling how they multiplied the talents they received for the “Investing for Good” initiative this past spring. Today we hear from Julene and Andrew Hannesh.
Since last fall, Andrew and I have provided companionship services for a small group of seniors a few times a week. This has included preparing meals, nail care, bathing, and other activities of daily living. We used the funds from “Investing for Good” to cover our usual expenses and were able to contribute the proceeds made over the five-week project. We chose to designate our funds to Settled. Chronic homelessness is a major problem in the Twin Cities (and throughout the United States) and working as a nurse, I see first hand how stable housing can improve well-being and health outcomes. Everyone deserves a safe place to sleep and Settled is working to provide that with a community focus, something many other housing solutions are unable to provide. The “Investing for Good” project allowed us to pair our own work of providing companionship for those we serve, while raising funds to support additional community services. We are so grateful we could participate in this project, and excited to share we turned $150 into $600!
