Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” is a passage that has given me confidence and peace of mind, but also regret and questions. Knowing Christ is with me gives me confidence and peace of mind, but when I‘m struggling with confidence and feeling that something is hopeless I wonder what happened to being able to do all things. Is it my lack of faith in myself, or my lack of faith, that is the reason I feel something is hopeless?

This past year and a half has been hard on everyone and has given us all different challenges in our everyday life. Have you felt confidence from knowing Christ was with you? Have you been able to do things you never expected you’d do? I urge you to take time today to close your eyes, think about the challenges of the day, and then do whatever you need to do to feel Christ’s presence in your life. Now open your eyes and look around you and think of all the people in your life that help you with various things, and look at them as Christ strengthening you.

I don’t believe that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” means that Christ will make you a superpower, but that Christ will be with you in whatever life deals you, whether that be through individual effort, your friends and family helping you get through what needs to be done, or maybe Christ being with you through someone you’ve never even met before.

Dear God, Open our hearts and minds, to realize and accept the strength you offer us, each and every day. Help us believe in ourselves as Christ believes in us. Amen
