Confirmation at PoP does not look like the confirmation classes that many of us experienced. The group of 7th and 8th graders meet once a month. In February, our confirmation students and four leaders spent a weekend at Luther Point Bible Camp, digging into the Apostles’ Creed. We wrestled with questions of “Is God male?” “Why did God choose to do it this way?” and “How do we understand the Holy Spirit?” The group baked communion bread, played Jesus’ story Pictionary, went on a Holy Spirit scavenger hunt and did skits of the creation story uses a collection of random items. Watching the movie “The Shack” provided interesting discussion of could this be how the Trinity operates? Being in the north woods of Wisconsin also provided time team building, playing in the snow, roasting marshmallows, and worshipping together.
The next Confirmation gathering is a mini retreat at church on Sunday, March 22 from 4-8 p.m. The focus will be on baptism.
