Prince of Peace has sent in $745 for distribution to the 298 food shelves throughout Minnesota. Gary Peterson faithfully delivers our food donations to the local Keystone Food Shelf at 1459 N. Rice Street. During the FoodShare Campaign March 1 – April 16 Gary delivered 440# of food from Prince of Peace.
Prince of Peace congregation is helping to address hunger throughout Minnesota. Challenges for low-income families are currently greater because:
- “Emergency – SNAP” benefits ended in March
- “Families First Coronavirus Response Act” also ended in March causing families, especially those with disabilities to lose Medicaid coverage
- Inflation of food costs
- Seniors with limited retirement funds and on fixed incomes are particularly challenged and are using food shelves
