The month of November with our national holiday of Thanksgiving is an annual reminder of being thankful for all the gifts we have received in our lives. Thanksgiving time is also a time when we can take action of how our lives can shine forth with a generous spirit of Thanks-living.

We have hands and feet, eyes and ears, and a big heart to use in whatever way we choose. It always amazes me when people come together and share their various skills and talents.

  • At Prince of Peace we see carpenter skills during Habitat builds and the many ways the Monday morning work group keeps our church building and grounds clean and in repair.
  • During worship we appreciate the various musical talents and artwork that enhances our worship experience.
  • Some folks have leadership and organizing skills while others are great followers and doers and willingly serve on committees.
  • Some are educators; some advocates, technicians, custodians.
  • Some folks earn more money than others and share their wealth.
  • Others have gifts of hospitality and caring.

Combined we have a rich community and are thankful for all the contributions of many to make our church run smoothly.

As I write this Kay Johnson just died. I can think of no one as generous as Kay. Her life exemplified caring and compassion for family and friends. She shared her talents and creative ideas to greatly enhance the Prince of Peace Community.

Dear God, you are a generous God who has created so many gifts needed for our lives together as we live on this Earth. May we appreciate these numerous gifts and use them with thankfulness and respect. It is our blessing to have Prince of Peace church staff. Let us pray for our pastors, staff and leaders. In all our thankfulness we are so grateful for the greatest gift of all, God’s only Son who showed us how to live lives of thanks-living.
