Travel to Zanzibar
Today was the start of our “vacation extension” to Zanzibar. When you travel so far, it is a good opportunity to experience new things. Zanzibar is part of Tanzania and is a large island off of the coast. It is known for spices.
We started out early to the Iringa airport and were relieved that we could get all our luggage on the plane! There was a preschool or kindergarten class visiting the airport and they let the class go out on the tarmac when the plane was taxi-ing.
In Dar we were met by Jackson from Mukuta Travel, who picked up most of our luggage to store until we are ready to fly back. That’s a great relief!
We made our way back through the airport for our next short flight to Zanzibar. We met our guide, ChiChi, who will be with us the next few days. We are staying in Stone Town right on the Indian Ocean in a hotel housed within a historic building. Dinner was at the hotel’s beachside restaurant.
We look forward to hearing and seeing more of this area of God’s creation in the next few days!
