First day in Vikongwa!

Today we began our visit to Vikongwa Parish.  Vikongwa Parish was previously a preaching point of Bomalang’ombe and is also close to the village of Lyamko.

We were greeted just outside of Bomalang’ombe by a pikipiki (motorcycle) escort through Bomalang’ombe to the Vikongwa parish where we were greeted by singing and dancing and a greeting with introductions at the church.

Then it was time for tea in the new guest house!  Last spring a nice house just down the hill from the church became available for sale, and the congregation purchased it with intent of using it as a guest house.  It is a beautiful house and a comfortable place to stay!

After tea we went to visit the Mlandege preaching point where we were introduced to the church leaders and exchanged gifts.

The next stop was to the village hall at Lyamko.  One of the members of Vikongwa is the village chair and we were introduced to their staff and learned of their plans to build a large dispensary to serve the village.  We saw the building under construction,  and as we left, saw the water connection location.

In 2023 Prince of Peace provided some funds to help connect the parish to the water source.  The parish members have dug the trenches and laid most of the pipes.  The connection isn’t complete yet because there is major road construction and the pipe needed to be disconnected until that is finished.  We saw the plumbing supplies that will complete the project, as well as a junction point.  There will be a large pipe to bring water to the church, pastor’s house and surrounding homes, and smaller pipes to supply the evangelist’s house and the new guest house.

After another delicious meal we thanked cooks and are preparing for a busy day tomorrow!
