Bomalang’ombe worship and visits
Today started bright and early with the first service at 6am. It was such a vibrant service with exuberant singing and dancing! Caryn got conscripted to do the sermon. After worship there is an auction for donations given in lieu of cash. We also gave gifts for the main parish. After breakfast we headed back for the second service and gave gifts to the Bomalang’ombe preaching point.
Before lunch we met with the widows group that is raising goats and making baskets. The project is going well for them! They are experimenting with a new type of basket that can be a hat!
After lunch we had a chance to meet some of our sponsored students, parents and/or guardians. The students expressed their thanks, and some of their aspirations include doctor, engineer, lawyer, pastor and pilot!
The women’s economic group was next. They make batiks and are now raising a cow. We shared with them a thank you gift of candles from Settled. We had a chance to see a basket making demonstration and then went for a visit to see a few of the goats being raised by the widows. The goats are used for milk.
After another delicious dinner we met as a partnership committee to share with each other our plans and challenges. We finished by seeing the new kitchen attached to the pastor’s house. A very full, long, but good day!
