Today’s author is Prince of Peace member, Milt Warkentien.

Hear we are a week and a half out of Easter and the disciples are in chaos. They’ve watched Jesus be betrayed, arrested, denied and crucified. Now they hear he’s alive. I can’t imagine what I would have been thinking.

Now here we are at Prince of Peace over 2000 years later, and with Pastor Peter leaving and Debbie leaving in just over a month, I feel we might all be feeling a bit anxious about what the future holds for us at Prince of Peace. I know one great advantage we have over Jesus’s followers is that we’ve heard that Jesus is alive, passed down for those 2000 plus years. What a gift we’ve been given.

Now, as we’ve done many times in the past, we must keep showing up, for Christ is alive at Prince of Peace, and Christ’s light cannot be put out as long as, as Pastor Peter said, “Just keep showing up.” While I’ll miss working with Pastor Peter and Peter and Ann’s friendship, Christ’s spirit is alive at Prince of Peace. A chapter of Prince of Peace’s long legacy has ended, but a new chapter is just beginning.

Our theme through early June is Unfinished Story, and this is so true, for we are a resilient congregation and have a lot of story left to write. My wish for us, and Anne and Peter, as we go our different ways, is that Christ’s light Shines wherever we are, and that we all know what blessings we are, have been, and will continue to be to each other.

I leave you with the communion anthem from Sunday to help you remember all those that have blessed your life and continue to do so. While some people’s memories may invoke tears from them not being around now, I hope their memories also bring great joy for the legacy they have given you, and that you take time to share thanks with those that continue to bless your life.

May God bless us all, Milt.
