Sacred Settlement Update
It’s been hard to be patient, but our patience has been rewarded. The third home passed its inspection last week. After countless hours of preparation and the generous efforts of so many volunteers, the Beary Family made quick work of relocating their belongings and settling in. The home they’ve occupied since moving in is now being prepared to welcome a new neighbor, hopefully in the coming month.
It’s time to celebrate another milestone! You are invited to come and help us bless this new home, give thanks for all who have contributed to this moment, and be inspired to continue the journey.
Home Blessing and Community Dinner
Sunday, March 17, 5:30-7pm
We continue to gather on the third Sunday of each month to share a meal, trade stories, and to celebrate all that God is doing in and through our Sacred Settlement. This is the perfect time and place to bring along someone who might be curious to learn more about our Sacred Settlement and the full-community approach to addressing chronic homelessness.
Our Community Dinners are a potluck with the main course and beverages provided, so bring a dish to share if you’re able. Or not – it’s ok. Just come – there’s always plenty. This month, Pastor Paddy is preparing Corned Beef & Cabbage. Come hear stories of real transformation and celebrate all that God is making possible.
New Studio & Meeting Room Takes Shape
We’re renovating the classroom next to the common house to help make another element of the full-community model a reality for our sacred settlement. We hope to provide “purposeful work” for our neighbors, as they journey away from chronic homelessness and towards the vision that God has for this community. The renovations will create a multi-purpose space for the Settled Workshop and our neighbors to keep making their wonderful creations. The new space will also continue serving the needs of our church, with a large meeting table, children’s play space, and a cozy lounge area. New coat racks and benches will give the hallway a new look as well.
Be sure to check out the new display hutch just outside the common house. Here you’ll find the workshop products like candles, soaps, lip-balms, and other fancies. You can purchase items, which goes to support the workshop and provide a source of income for settlement residents.
