No formal actions were taken at the October 10, 2023 meeting of the Congregation Council, but several important issues were discussed.

Campus Planning Task Force

  • Steve Sveom submitted a written report to the Council. The report summarized the task force meeting on October 2. The council learned that planning to add the third tiny home was to begin (and has begun) on Wednesday, October 11. The work products developed through the recent design workshop (charrette) will be unveiled on October 17.  Those ideas will be reviewed at the next task force meeting on October 23.
  • One key recommendation coming from the design charrette was that moving ahead with a solar installation should be put on hold until decisions are made about the design and location of future affordable housing.

Financial Report – Arjun Sethi

  • Year-to-date expenses are tracking close to budget, with a total of $132,696 compared to a year-to-date budget of $131,968. Income to date is $98,698; however, the gap between income and expenses is expected to close. Giving has historically been concentrated in the last quarter of the calendar year.
  • The finance committee has had a preliminary meeting to discuss long-term financial strategies. The committee plans to prepare recommendations for those strategies as part of our PoP fall stewardship campaign.

Structuring for the Future

  • President Michael Stetzler reported that the organizational structure described in our continuing resolutions was last revised in 2011 and needs to be updated. Many of the committees and missions described in our continuing resolutions are inactive. Council members will review the current resolutions and continue this discussion in November.
