The Roseville City Council unanimously approved the PoP interim use permit for the two tiny homes on our property.  This is in effect until January 1, 2024, when new state legislation goes into effect.  PoP needs to determine by early October if we want to have an ongoing settlement of at least 3 homes beginning in January.

The Task Force met following the City Council meeting to discuss ongoing plans.  The focus of the meeting was to submit recommendations on how to weigh the decision factors for projects.  The decision factors include values (relationships; generosity; learning; caring; faith); financial sustainability; compelling needs addressed; congregational vitality and human resources needed and available; effect on the environment and community; and enhancing our ministries.  Recommendations to the congregation will be made based on these factors.

A discussion was held regarding the possible addition of one home to meet legislative requirements that go into effect in January.  This would enable us to accomplish a small level of meaningful ministry while we continue to pursue a larger plan that may include affordable housing, daycare, and/or Habitat for Humanity development.  How we best use our current facilities is an ongoing question.

Money that was budgeted for the Affordable Housing Team was authorized for use to survey our property and establish precise property lines so that plans could be made with full knowledge.

A discussion was held on the challenge of how to effectively communicate with the congregation so that full participation in decision-making could be accomplished.  This is an ongoing concern for the Task Force.  Please keep reading these updates and plan to participate in forums and discussions in September into early October.
