At the Roseville Planning Commission meeting on July 5, commissioners voted 6-1 to recommend approval by the City Council of the Prince of Peace Interim Use Permit application. The City Council will consider it at their meeting on July 24 at 6 pm. Visitors are encouraged to attend. The next Task Force meeting will be immediately after consideration of our application by the City Council on July 24.
The Campus Planning Task Force has now heard presentations from representative of Habitat for Humanity, Common Bond (an affordable housing developer) and Settled (re. the Community First tiny home organization). The most recent presentation was from Common Bond about the possibility of affordable apartment units on our Prince of Peace campus. Common Bond has developed housing in a multi-state area of different sizes and emphases. Developments have ranged from senior housing to low-income housing and even a combination of low-income housing combined with child care. Common Bond provides management of the units and services to the residents, sometimes working in partnership with other organizations for services.
The next item of business for the Task Force is to review all the possibilities that have been mentioned and determine a short list of projects to be considered. The decision factors that have been highlighted by the Task Force will be reviewed and weighted to determine which should receive strongest consideration while evaluating projects.
This work is challenging and as one member stated, can be “messy”, as the work is done. I am deeply appreciative of the participants on the task force who demonstrate passion, commitment, and persistence to press on with the work.
