Summer is fast approaching and we want to invite you to our new endeavor – Learn & Serve afternoons coupled with community potlucks back at Prince of Peace. In lieu of VBS, we are designating three days–one each month–to volunteer and learn at an organization and then come back to church for an evening picnic with music, stories, and games. All ages are welcome to join Learn and Serve (kids 11 and under need to have an adult with them). Grilled items (hotdogs/burgers) will be provided and we ask that you bring a side or dessert to share. Mark your calendars for the following dates:
June 21st – Learn and Serve 3:30-5:00pm @ Second Harvest Heartland
Join us June 21st from 3:30-5 pm to repackage food for Second Harvest Heartland. We will meet at Prince of Peace at 3 pm to carpool. Children 8 and older are able to volunteer, and we ask that those joining us 12 and younger come with an adult. Following our volunteer time, join us back at Prince of Peace at 5:30 pm for a community night and dinner. July 19th – Learn & Serve 2:00-5:00pm @ Settled
Join us on July 19 from 2 – 5:00pm to learn about Mosaic Christian Communities’ Sacred Settlement, meet some of their neighbors and head to Woodland Hills to make sandwiches for distribution during upcoming street ministry outings. We will also have an opportunity to see Settled’s warehouse where tiny homes are made and workshops are held for Settled’s residents. We will then head back to PoP for a Community Potluck starting at 5:30pm. Following our volunteer time, join us back at Prince of Peace at 5:30pm for a community night and dinner.
August 16th – Learn & Serve 2:00-5:00pm @ Rice Street Gardens/Galilee Lutheran
Potluck Picnics follow Learn & Serve 5:30 – 7:00pm with a bonfire after (weather permitting)
