The June 13 meeting of the congregation council focused primarily on preparation for the upcoming congregational meeting. The council approved the following motions.

  • Motion to recommend approval of the proposed 2023-24 operating budget by the Prince of Peace congregation at the meeting of the congregation on June 25, 2023.
  • Motion to recommend authorization by the congregation of a project to install a solar power generating structure on the parking area of Prince of Peace.*
  • Motion to recommend approval by the congregation of an amendment to the Prince of Peace bylaws which updates our mission statement to the statement we currently proclaim:  We are claimed, gathered, and sent to build the Church and love the World.

More information on the substance of these motions will be available in an information session following worship this Sunday, June 18, and on the PoP website.

*Although the Campus Planning Task Force will not finish a comprehensive plan until late this year, the solar power installation would be largely independent of the other projects in a master plan.  The specific project under consideration would require little or no investment by Prince of Peace apart from some features we might want to add to the structure to facilitate outdoor worship and parking area lighting.  If approved by the congregation, it is likely that it can be completed this year, which would modestly reduce our future utility costs.
