The First “Judy Florine Memorial School Supply Drive” was a huge success. On the day Ann and Peter Haugen delivered the school supplies collected at POP throughout August to Central Park School, it was the one year anniversary of Judy Florine’s passing. Every previous year Anne and Judy did that task together. Over the years they got to know many of the school staff and saw how grateful people were for the school supplies we collected.
This year, as POP revived a more robust participatory schedule, the Social Concerns Committee members were determined to keep up the tradition of the school supply drive in Judy’s memory. It was a great success. With generous donations we were able to fill Anne’s car up with things that will be well used by kids at school this year. Thank you for all your kind support.
In that spirit the Social Concerns Committee formally announces the naming of this event as The Judy Florine Memorial School Supply Drive. Judy loved the kids and truly enjoyed being able to help support our local schools. We will happily carry on this annual event in her memory.
