All are invited as we Make Room this Advent season.
Abraham’s Blessing and Today’s Blessing
Today’s author is Prince of Peace member, Anne Haugan.
Galatians 3:26 – 29 God made a promise to Abraham and to his offspring.
“For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. All baptized into Christ . . . There is no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, nor male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. For if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise”
What a blessing! All of us believers have been blessed through Abraham and his offspring Jesus Christ.
At Prince of Peace we also have been blessed to have had Debbie Jorgens on our staff for 3 ½ years with the job description of Director of Care and Visitation. Debbie even expanded her job by adding programs which could be called “senior ministry”:
- She coordinated quarterly events for Senior Socials..
- Started a WOW Group (Women on Wednesdays).
- Led a monthly Seniors Supporting Seniors discussion group.
Debbie has greatly enhanced the Befriender Ministry which includes the Prayer Shawl Knitters. Recently this group of knitters was treated to an appreciation luncheon given by Debbie – thanking the knitters for the opportunity to deliver prayer shawls. Another Debby (Danielson), helped her.
Debbie has been diligent in visiting our 24 – 30 homebound members, often bringing communion, keeping track of who is moving, who is hospitalized or in rehab. She even travels to St. Louis Park and Woodbury to make her regular caring visits.
Besides all these responsibilities, Debbie has been our preacher numerous times and led worship. We also have been recipients of Debbie’s musical gifts of piano and flute playing. She also makes a delicious egg-bake and rice-grot pudding, Comfort food!
We will miss Debbie on the Prince of Peace Staff as we thank her for the gifts she has brought to the Prince of Peace Community. Julene Hannesh will be carrying on her torch as Minister of Intergenerational Connection and Care.
I would like to close with this “A Little Prayer Today” for Debbie. It was received from our missionaries, Julia and Vincent Leiyoole, who are working in Kenya.
Thinking of you with love today
and offering a prayer
That God will keep you always
In the shelter of his care
May he guide you in your daily work,
Bless everything you do
And grant you all those special joys.
That mean
the most to you.

A Lot of Story Left to Write
Today's author is Prince of Peace member, Milt Warkentien. Hear we are a week and a half out of Easter and the disciples are in chaos. They’ve watched Jesus be betrayed, arrested, denied and crucified. Now they hear he’s alive. I can’t imagine what I would have been...
The Story Continues…
Even after the benediction, the story isn’t over. That’s the truth at the heart of the Emmaus road—and of this moment in our congregation’s life. As we turn the page on one chapter of ministry, I want to offer these reminders for the road ahead: First, keep telling...
Unfinished Stories
After Easter Sunday, it’s easy to imagine the story of Jesus wrapping up neatly—resurrection, celebration, the end. But that’s not how God works. The resurrection isn’t a conclusion; it’s a turning point.
