Sacred Settlement | Prince of Peace

Intentional Neighbors. Permanent Homes. Cultivated Places. Purposeful Work. Supportive Friends.

“Bega Kwa Bega” is the name of St. Paul Area Synod’s companion relationship with the Iringa Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). It is a Swahili phrase that means “shoulder to shoulder,” describing the way in which we accompany one another in a spirit of mutuality, inclusivity and vulnerability.

Prince of Peace has a relationship with two congregations in Tanzania, Bomalang’ombe and Vikongwa. In preparation for our scholarship fundraising dinner in November, we held a video meeting with both congregations to learn about what has been happening within their work and to lift up prayers for each other. In previous conversations, we have shared the ministry and accompaniment of our neighbors in the Sacred Settlement.

During the call, they presented us with batiks and baskets for our neighbors to use in their purposeful work. Our faithful volunteers, Caryn & Jim Josephson, are pictured below with Pastor Peter presenting the fabrics and baskets during our November Community Dinner. The commandment to love our neighbors is evident in our relationships within Roseville, the surrounding communities and globally.

As we end 2024, we pray:
*that our partnerships continue to thrive;
*that we continue on the path of welcome and loving those in seek of refuge, reconciliation and restoration;
*and that we bring the light of Christ into the world.

Peace to you in this season from Prince of Peace.
