A good place to sit is easy to take for granted. Reading a book, enjoying a snack, catching a nap, dreaming for the future, all these, are made exponentially better with a good place to sit. And when you’re creating a new kind of community, one that offers welcome, acceptance, encouragement, and love for those who’ve lived without these things for far too long, well, a good place to sit is an invaluable tool.

Recently, our partners at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, gifted us with eight Adirondak-style chairs that they had built. Simple construction of wood planks and a few screws but just the right thing for the community we are building. So far, we’ve added one coat of protective polyurethane and we’re hoping to add two more soon.

Already, the chairs are delivering on their promise of comfort and connection. Casual conversation around the fire pit, strategic planning in the open-air, and comfortable check-ins have all been made possible with our new chairs. May God bless our partners at Lord of Life and bless all the book reading, snack enjoying, nap catching, future dreaming, and life-nurturing conversations they will provide.

Community Dinner

Sunday, August 18

Mending Social 4:30pm

Dinner & Milestones 5:30pm

We continue to gather on the third Sunday of each month to share a meal, celebrate milestones, and marvel at all God is doing in and through our Sacred Settlement. This is the perfect time and place to bring along someone who might be curious to learn more about our Sacred Settlement and the full-community approach to addressing chronic homelessness.

Our Community Dinners are a potluck with the main course and beverages provided (baked chicken this month), so bring a dish to share if you’re able. Or not – it’s ok. Just come – there’s always plenty. Come hear stories of real transformation and celebrate all that God is making possible. No need to RSVP.  Come early if you can help with set up.  Stick around after if you can help with clean up.
