In 1 Kings 5:5 Solomon says he will build the house that his father was not able to complete. It sounds like his father David had had magnificent plans. Back in 2003, Prince of Peace also entertained the idea of expanding our house with a new, larger sanctuary towards Victoria Street.

Prince of Peace members were interviewed, plans were produced, and more feedback collected. Discussions were heated as the flat- and sloped-floor camps could not agree.  But in 2005 groundbreaking still took place with cake and fanfare. However, the new sanctuary project soon was abandoned, and new down-sized — or perhaps right-sized — plans were created. The new more practical house that we have today slowly took shape within the boundaries of the old one.

Perhaps we should question magnificent plans. Perhaps God made sure we had enough conflict to not get agreement and momentum. Today Prince of Peace has a house to be proud of, but, more importantly, it has some very devoted members, clergy and staff.

Let us Pray:
The Lord almighty bless us, and direct our days and our deeds in God peace. Amen.
