Annual Theme and Fall Worship Series
“Now I’m turning you over to our marvelous God whose gracious Word can make you into what he wants you to be and give you everything you could possibly need in this community of holy friends.” Acts 20:32 (The Message)
As a community of faith still grappling with a world shaped by the pandemic, social injustices and political divides, we possibly have more in common with the early church now more than at any other time in our history. It’s fitting that the Apostle Paul would offer the words quoted above to encourage the leaders of the church, giving them confidence to live boldly into a new vision for connections with a sustainable future. While we continue to stumble through the particular logistics of our physical reconnecting, God faithfulness to us should inspire us to be comparably faithful to God’s vision for Prince of Peace.
There are so many places in which the world’s needs might just align with our gifts, but only if we address them collectively. This is a profound opportunity for the church. As we reimagine the work we are called to do, let’s use the strengths of what binds us together to draw the circle even wider and take full advantage of this moment.
This annual theme, “Reconnecting & Renewing,” will hopefully provide some shape to our work ahead and will become a refrain for us to return to with some regularity. Our various ministry leaders will be considering all the ways we might focus on the reconnections and renewals required of living faithfully into God’s promises for a hope-filled future. We hope you’ll join us in this effort and help us to become an even better version of the church God is calling us to be.
We launch back into the program year with a Sunday dedicated to “God’s Work, Our Hands” on September 12. Then on Sunday, September 19 we’ll begin a new worship series, helping to introduce this theme that will kick things off for the fall.
