     Pastor Rolf talked about how the Old Testament is filled with Gospel. I look forward to listening to the remaining Old Testament stories with this in mind. I’ve also found it interesting to hear how God’s promise is shown in the stories. I hope others are enjoying the Narrative Lectionary as much as I am. The Narrative Lectionary has also made hymn suggestions interesting, as many of the stories we’re hearing I’ve never had to find hymns. I’m trying to at least have a couple “familiar” hymns each week, but I will be using some that aren’t as “familiar,” which you’ve probably noticed.

     Listening for the Gospel in the Old Testament got me to thinking about listening for the Gospel in my everyday life?  Where can I find Gospel in my daily work schedule? Where can I find Gospel in my weekly activities? Where can I spread, or be, the Gospel?

      I mentioned smiling last month. I think a smile can be one of the most powerful things around. Is a smile Gospel? I think so. I don’t think Gospel needs to be something complicated; I think it can be some of the “easiest” things to do. What else are some “easy” things we can do to spread, or be, the Gospel?

      ELW 821 “Shout to the Lord” says

“My Jesus, my savior, Lord, there is none like you.

 All of my days I want to praise the wonders of your mighty love.

 My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength;

 let ev’ry breath, all that I am never cease to worship you.

 Shout to the Lord, all the earth;

 let us sing power and majesty, praise to the King.

 Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name.

 I sing for joy at the work of your hands;

 forever I’ll love you, forever I’ll stand.

 Nothing compares to the promise I have in you.”

     I love that last line “Nothing compares to the promise I have in you.” How can we not look to spread, or be, the Gospel when nothing compares to the promise we have from God.

May we all spread, or be, the Gospel!!!!!! Milt
