Prince of Peace Congregation Council and the Interim Pastor Interview Committee agreed that Pastor Steve Sylvester is the best choice for our Intentional Interim Lead Pastor. Please join us in welcoming him to Prince of Peace.

I could write a long intro, but he will be here soon to tell us his own story. Rather, here are some of the highlights.

Pastor Steve will be here to lead us in worship and perform the duties of lead pastor. In addition, he has special gifts to enable him to partner with us in the transition process and design of the Call process.  In the interview he stated an interim’s job “is positioning the congregation to find the fit for who God calls” for that congregation. He will take the time to get to know us.

Pastor Steve has been an Intentional Interim Pastor in two other congregations. He has been a pastor in various church since 1991. You may recognize Steve. He worshiped with us a few years ago while in between Interim assignments.

Worship: He described his preaching style as finding what the text says that needs to be said. He believes children should be active in worship, including readers and communion assistants.

His Personal Ministry Statement will help in knowing who Pastor Steve is: “I am a child of God’s forgiveness in Christ, called to be relationship with all of God’s children and God’s good creation. As a pastor, I am called to help others discover the same as they seek to be God’s healing partners in the world.”

Please welcome him to our congregation and be ready to share your story of life here at Prince of Peace, your hopes and fears (if any) for the future.

Start Date: Sunday, June 15. He will preside at the service.

Blessings,
Deborah Cordes
Congregation Council President
