“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the person of God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

In the ever-changing landscape of our lives, where each day can bring new challenges, uncertainties, and decisions to be made, we have a steadfast and reliable guide in God’s story. The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Timothy that scripture is “God-breathed,” meaning it is inspired directly by God and serves a divine purpose in our lives. It is not just an ancient text but a living document, rich with wisdom and guidance.

Martin Luther emphasized the transformative power of scripture. He taught that the Bible is not just for us clergy or scholars but is accessible to all believers, capable of guiding, comforting, and strengthening anyone who seeks its truths. Luther believed that through scripture, God speaks directly to each of us, offering clarity and direction, especially amid life’s trials.

God’s story, as laid out in the Bible, equips us in multiple ways. It teaches us the nature of God’s unchanging character, offering a foundation of faith and trust. When we face moments of doubt or fear, scripture corrects our misconceptions, redirecting us towards truth and hope. Through its narratives, commandments, and teachings, it trains us in righteousness, shaping our character and helping us grow in our walk with Jesus.

In practical terms, scripture provides us with timeless principles to navigate life’s challenges. For example, when facing conflict, we learn about the importance of reconciliation and forgiveness (Matthew 18:15-17). When we experience anxiety, the story encourages to bring our concerns to God in prayer (Philippians 4:6-7). Each verse, parable, and commandment is a tool designed to prepare us for “every good work” God has planned for us.

Today, let’s immerse ourselves in God’s story, confident that it will equip us for whatever lies ahead. As Luther taught, scripture is a wellspring of divine wisdom, always available to those who seek it. As we meditate on it, we become more attuned to God’s voice, ready to respond with faith, wisdom, and love.

May God’s peace find you today. -Pastor Peter
