Once again, we at Prince of Peace have been blessed by the Spirit-filled creativity of our people. Scott Tunseth wrote a new hymn which premiered during worship this past Sunday called, “Hold On.” For your devotion time today, I encourage you to read the words and listen to this hymn (sing along, too!) and let it dwell in your heart and see how it speaks to you. As I’ve been sitting with this hymn, these are the phrases that have been giving me life this week and have been serving as mantras that keep me grounded in my connection to God.
Reconciling God, may your Spirit bring
Tender words of lasting peace.
God of matchless love, teach us how to sing
Freedom’s selfless servant song.
God of boundless hope, turn our anxious prayers
Into strength to do your will.
What is speaking to you? Abundant thanks to Scott for this gift of music.
In Peace, Pastor Ruth
HOLD ON
- From the font of grace living waters flow
In a stream that never ends.
Gracious God of life, rain your mercy down,
Healing all who long to mend. Refrain 1 - From the endless strife and the words of hate
We long to find release.
Reconciling God, may your Spirit bring
Tender words of lasting peace. Refrain 2 - When compassion wanes, justice still cries out
With a voice that’s loud and strong.
God of matchless love, teach us how to sing
Freedom’s selfless servant song. Refrain 3 - When creation sighs, “Oh God, how long?”
We recall your promise still.
God of boundless hope, turn our anxious prayers
Into strength to do your will. Refrain 4
REFRAIN
- Hold on, hold on. Grace is a – coming.
Hold on, hold on. Grace is coming here. - Hold on, hold on. Peace is a – coming.
Hold on, hold on. Peace is coming here. - Hold on, hold on. Love is a – coming.
Hold on, hold on. Love is coming here. - Hold on, hold on. Hope is a – coming.
Hold on, hold on. Hope is coming here.
