Christmas Play Recap
“Prepare to be Amazed” was the title of the Christmas Play presented by 31 of our children and youth on December 15. Beginning with the story of God creating the world, a grandparent (played by Lyla Burke) told God’s story to four kids (Elliot, Elie, Ellie and Norah) using a large nativity scene that the kids created. As they talk about the story of Jesus’ birth, scenes of the shepherds hearing from the angels, the wise men following the star and the evil King Herod’s reaction to the baby play out on the stage. The chorus sang “You’re a Mean One, Mr. King” to which King Herod (Ben Miller) sang a response.
The Little Angels (8 preschoolers and kindergarteners) sang Twinkle Twinkle Holy Star and Jesus Loves Me. Mary was played by Alice Rawitzer and Joseph by Keegan Johnson. Five-month old Luci Severson was Baby Jesus. It was written and directed by Pastor Betsy.
The play ended with the hymn “He came down that we may have love…light…peace…joy” and one of the kids (Elliot Miller) responding, “That’s the best Christmas present ever!”
