When I take a moment to step back and reflect, it’s clear we have made remarkable progress. Though, to paraphrase leadership guru Jim Collins, “getting the right people in the right seats on this bus” continues to be the primary challenge for me as your lead pastor.
As you may have heard by now, Prince of Peace is the recipient of a bequest from Rose Diestler’s estate. Rose was a beloved member of our church for many, many years and this is an exceptional act of generosity. Included in her bequest is her former home. The Congregation Council has created the Generosity Committee to recommend to the Council what to do with the home. The Committee desires to hear your ideas.
As we enter into the busy holiday season, what a joy it is to have this expanded team to collaborate with on so many aspects of our shared ministry. I’m especially pleased with the work we’re doing with children, youth and families, including the re-design of our confirmation program as well as the ways we’re caring for each other. Here are a few notes on what we’ve been up to this past month…
A story of remarkable generosity that will be benefitting our community of faith in some very significant ways in the years to come. It is sure to impact each of us and our common calling to be the church together in this place. It’s especially fitting that we share this with you today, the day in the church year when we celebrate all the Saints.
