Seniors Supporting Seniors

Seniors Supporting Seniors, a group for older adults (and anyone who considers themselves a senior!), meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 1:00 – 2:30pm for conversations on a variety of topics related to growing older.
Upcoming Supporting Senior dates:
September 12
Join us this month for a conversation on the reality of aging – both the challenges and laments inherent in the journey, as well as the wisdom and perspective gained along the way. Bring your experiences and your questions to this safe space for holy conversations. We look forward to seeing you!
October 10 – Finding the Light
Sometimes it’s difficult to see the light. It can be a very dark world, after all. We’re facing an escalating war in the Middle East, the devastating and heart-breaking effects of Hurricane Helene, and a chaotic and increasingly polarizing political climate. On top of that, each of us face challenges in our own lives, whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a personal health concern, or the need to make a difficult decision. But God’s light shines even in the midst of our darkest days. Where are you finding the light?

January 9
January 6th is the Day of Epiphany, when we remember how a star led the Magi to Jesus, the LIGHT that had come into the world. The word, “Epiphany,” comes from the Greek word meaning “to reveal.” This month as we gather for Seniors Supporting Seniors, we will be discussing the concept of Epiphany. How has the light of Christ been revealed to you – especially in the dark times of your life?
February 13 – The Challenging Intersection of Faith and Politics
The news is coming at us fast and furious. News about immigration, access to power, financial cuts to nonprofits, layoffs of even the most seasoned civil servants, and even possible plans for the Gaza Strip. These are certainly political issues. But they are just as much issues related to faith, because our faith has a lot to say about how we are called to respond. Please join us in a safe space as we explore these questions: How can we enter into respectful conversations with those who see things differently than we do? How might we make space for their voices to be heard while still summoning the courage to speak our own truths as followers of Jesus? What are tangible ways we can care for our neighbor while recognizing the importance of good self-care in these difficult days?
