The Generosity of New Beginnings
Even when destruction and failure seem final, God promises new beginnings through a renewed covenant written on our hearts. God’s unrelenting generosity offers hope, forgiveness, and a fresh start for all.

Generosity is not just about material wealth—it’s about a way of living, trusting that God provides enough for all. In this worship series, "Generous Spirit," we will explore moments in Scripture where God’s provision, mercy, and calling invite people to give of themselves in surprising ways. From a widow who shares her last meal with Elijah, to God’s mercy for Jonah and Nineveh, Isaiah’s bold response to God’s call, and Jeremiah’s promise of a new covenant, these stories remind us that generosity is at the heart of God’s work in the world. Through these texts, we are invited to reflect on how living generously can transform our lives and our community. As we enter our 2025 Annual Giving Campaign, we’ll consider how God is calling us to offer our time, talents, and resources, trusting that every gift—no matter the size—can create new possibilities for hope and renewal. Nov. 3 – 1 Kings 17:1-16 [17-24]: "Scarcity vs. Abundance" The story of Elijah and the widow challenges our ideas of scarcity. Even when resources are limited, God provides. This sermon will focus on the tension between fear of scarcity and trust in God's abundance, encouraging the congregation to give even when times feel uncertain. Nov. 10 – Jonah 1:1-17; 3:1-10 [4:1-11]: "The Generosity of Second Chances" Jonah receives a second chance from God despite his reluctance and resistance. God’s generosity extends to Jonah, the people of Nineveh, and even the animals. The sermon will focus on how God's mercy calls us to extend grace and generosity to others, even when we resist. Nov. 17 – Isaiah 6:1-8: "A Generous Calling" Isaiah’s response to God’s call (“Here am I; send me!”) reflects the generosity of spirit required to serve. This sermon will highlight the call to serve God and others with the same generosity with which God approaches us. Nov. 24 – Jeremiah 36:1-8, 21-23, 27-28; 31:31-34: "The Generosity of New Beginnings" God promises a new covenant to the people in a time of crisis, showing a profound generosity by offering hope for the future. The sermon will focus on how God continually gives new opportunities, inviting the congregation to reflect on their own role in building a hopeful future.
