Scams have existed for as long as humans have. Before the internet, scammers used more basic, offline techniques, like swiping credit card applications from your physical mailbox or calling you on the phone to manipulate you into revealing your credit card details or other sensitive information, leading to identity theft.

Who could have predicted how much things would change in just a few decades? The arrival of the internet revolutionized everything. It gave us constant online access and created new opportunities for scammers, often called “phishers.”
