What’s the Big Deal with David?
Join us for a thought-provoking presentation by Old Testament scholar Dr. Kathryn Schifferdecker, as she explores the enduring significance of King David in shaping modern Christianity. Here’s how Dr. Schifferdecker describes her presentation:
Though a deeply flawed man, King David is remembered in the church and synagogue as the “golden king” of Israel. He receives an incredibly gracious promise from God, a promise that leads to the idea of the Messiah. There is a reason that Jesus is called “Son of David” in the Gospels. Come explore David’s story as told particularly in 2 Samuel 7, and let’s ponder together the question, “Does God play favorites?”
