Sunday, August 18; 10:45am
On August 18, following the worship service, you are invited to a special 90-minute adult forum to view and discuss the ELCA video, Native Nations: Standing Together for Civil Rights. Hear indigenous leaders, activists and organizers, tell about their struggle during the civil rights movement for sovereignty and justice and “the untold story of how a meeting with the Lutheran Church would change the power of the Native people.” Hear how the Lutheran Church bodies of the 1970s and ‘80s stood together with Native people and learned how to best support them. Currently, the ELCA is again working on reconciliation and support. Come, learn, and join the discussion on this anniversary of the Dakota War of 1862.
