Giving Thanks & Saying Farewell on Sunday, Sept. 4

Members and friends of Prince of Peace are receiving a letter in the mail from Pastor Betsy Hoium, sharing the bittersweet news that she is resigning her call as Prince of Peace’s Pastor for Faith Formation.  She has accepted an opportunity to enter into the chaplain residency program at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis.  Pastor Betsy’s last Sunday with us will be Sunday, September 4, when we will celebrate her contributions to our ministry and offer our blessings on the ministry she will undertake going forward.  We give thanks to God for the many ways in which God was at work through Pastor Betsy as she has served our community of faith for the past three, almost four, years.  We join in her excitement to discover how God will reveal new ways for Betsy to serve and love God’s world.  A copy of Pastor Betsy’s letter can be downloaded and read below.

Also arriving in mailboxes and attached below is an accompanying letter from Congregation President Michael Stetzler and Pastor Peter Christ.  They describe the next steps, now underway, as this transition will usher in both additional challenge and fresh opportunity.  Already an established priority, the strategic visioning this congregation is undergoing is of even greater importance and your participation in this process is not only welcome, it is necessary.  The Congregational Council, lay leadership, and staff remain grateful for your support as we navigate our pathway forward.  In particular, your prayers will be a gift for Pastor Betsy, our staff, and our leadership throughout this time of transition to come.

Trusting in the Spirit’s wisdom and guidance, together, we will remain faithful to our mission to build up the church and love the world.
