Nine of our youth along, with Pastor Betsy and Cori Forcey are jumping on a plane on July 27th to head to New York City! They will be joined on this trip by 21 adults and youth from St Luke’s in Bloomington. On this journey, the group of 32 will be venturing to Manhattan and Queens. They will be facilitating Vacation Bible School each morning at Advent Lutheran in Manhattan, and each evening at Our Savior Lutheran in Queens.
Many of the youth helped with VBS at St Luke’s in Bloomington in June, so they are preparing to bring “To Mars and Beyond” to NYC. Our youth will be working with the children at both congregations with singing, Bible stories, snack time, science, and recreation. While they teach stories and fun, our youth will be gaining valuable skills and experience. They will have opportunities to lead and teach, while supporting one another and all the kids who join them for VBS.
One of the churches they will be visiting is a racially diverse congregation and the other is a church that has not had VBS for many years because of a lack of children, so we are helping them jump start this ministry. In addition, the youth will have the opportunity to see parts of New York City including Central Park, the 9-11 Museum, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
Please pray for Charlie, Brooke, Ayden, Leah, Lily, TJ, Teruni, Teagan, Kaelyn, Cori, Pastor Betsy and the group from St. Luke’s.
Thank you for the support that you’ve shown during fund raising, both at lent suppers and the Rose Diestler estate sale. Please continue supporting them through prayer and encouragement!
