Adult Forum meets at 9:40am each Sunday morning.
March 3 – Our guest Sarah Walker, is a reformer, advocate and lobbyist for changing the laws of our system of incarceration. Sarah’s public policy work has received many accolades. She will speak about the effects of the current system of incarceration and parole on the person incarcerated as well as on the family and society as a whole. Along with a large consortium of organizations she has helped make some changes but much more remains to be done.
During Lent… A few characteristics of God and how they may be lived by people of faith will be explored in our forums. Characteristics include forgiveness; justice; truth; judgment and grace.
March 10 and 17– From Northern Ireland to Ground Zero to the Amish countryside, a video explores the transforming power of forgiveness featuring both research and real life. We will view the video in two parts and include an opportunity to discuss The Power of Forgiveness, led by Steve Sveom.
March 24– We explore the theme of justice in Scripture and discuss how can we “do justice” in our own lives? Carol Swanson will present some background.
March 31– What is “Truth”? Where can we find truth in a “Post-truth” age? Scott Tunseth will help us explore these questions.
April 7– Judgment can be a scary thought. How can we understand “judgment” as a characteristic of a loving and gracious God? Carol Swanson will lead us in this exploration.
No Adult Forum scheduled for April 14 (Palm Sunday) or April 21 (Easter Sunday).
