July Council Update

Highlights of the Regular Monthly Meeting on July 9, 2024

Alyssa Herrig

Meet & Greet with Alyssa Herrig

The council had the opportunity to meet and greet Prince of Peace’s newest staff member, Alyssa Herrig! We are grateful to have her at PoP and are looking forward to future programming! The congregation can meet Alyssa following worship this Sunday, July 14 at 10:30am in the reception room.

New Building Renter – Centro Cristiano Bethel

PoP we will begin sharing space with a Spanish-speaking congregation, Centro Cristiano Bethel, beginning July 14. They will use our space on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday afternoons when the building is normally not in use.

Personnel Committee Update

Representatives from the Personnel Committee once again welcomed Alyssa Herrig and shared that staff reviews have begun and will be carried out over the next several weeks.

Finance Committee Update

The council then heard a report from our treasurer, Arjun Sethi, who confirmed the positive financial standing that was shared at the semi-annual meeting. Thanks to a few last minute generous donations, we ended the fiscal year nearly exactly on the net zero budget.

Property Management Team Update

The council then heard an update from the property management team where work is continuing on the solar project. They are still working through some of the engineering and paperwork items before any major planning can happen. The property management team is also working on repairing retaining walls around the Karen and Settlement gardens.

Ministry Support Sphere Leader Identified

Deb Cordes has agreed to lead the Ministry Support influence sphere.

Sacred Settlement Update

Finally, the council heard an update from our Sacred Settlement including a couple of landscaping projects that are going on such as walkway construction and retaining wall construction. We also welcomed a new settlement resident! We are so excited to welcome her into our community!

Update compiled and submitted by Andrew Hannesh, Congregation Vice-President.
