How do you explain Good Friday to Children? Pastor Betsy shares her ideas and invites all to the Children’s Good Friday Worship Service at 11 a.m., April 19. Experience the story from Palm Sunday through Maundy Thursday, Good Friday to Easter through song, story, and movement. A luncheon of grilled cheese sandwiches follows the service.
Approaching Holy Week and Easter, our theme “Telling Our Story” really comes into focus. Pastor Betsy asks how is Jesus and his story part of our story. To hear his story, she encourages reading the story in Matthew 21:1-10 and in chapters 26-28. How has our theme and reading his story impacted you?
The Older Kids’ program April 11th is “85 Years of Memories of a Small Town Boy.” Presenter John Sweeney shows images and video segments that will rekindle memories of the past such as one-room schoolhouses, radio shows, music and movies. The April women’s bible study will be “Friends for Life in Christ.” It is the last of the series on The Gospel of John: meetings with Jesus. This month we will study John 20 and 21, meeting the Risen Christ through his appearances with Mary Magdalene, Thomas, and Peter, the Beloved Disciple.
In the Easter Gospel of Matthew, we hear “Do not be afraid!” Pastor Ruth discusses the fears that “God calls us to die to in order to claim new life.” She suggests reading Matthew 28:1-10 and reflecting on some questions.
